Win 2000 DHCP goes inactive

By k4k ·
I have DHCP running on one of the Domain Controller in Win 2000 Domain. The dhcp is having 122 Scopes which are active .the lease period for all scopes are by default 8 days.

Strangley one day all DHCP scopes went inactive causing a havoc. amazingly we had no sings of it in event logs . the event logs keeps giving error Event 12292 & 12294 . apart from that no critical errors.

we have checked
there is no other DHCP in the network.

whatz causing the DHCP scopes to go inactive frequently.

Thx in advance

This problem is either:

a) The w32/sdbot worm
b) problem with a server having a different Local Administrator password, compared to Domain Administrator, because all services on that server use the local Admin account. DHCP services could get hosed as a result of this.

Your Domain Controller will definitely have an Administrator account.

You should be able to log in as the Domain Administrator.

Good luck
