    WIN 2000 INSTALLATION

    Locked

    by mzahid ·

FOR PAST ONE WEEK, I TRIED TO INSTALL WIN 2000 PROFESSIONAL ON MY COMPUTER. THE COMPUTER WAS BOUGHT IN 1997. THE PROCESSOR IS 200 MHZ. FIRST I WAS ABLE TO INSTALL WIN 2000 BUT WHEN IT CAME TO MODEM, THE OS GOT CORRUPTED EVERY TIME AND I DID RE-INSTALLATION. THIS WENT ON SEVERAL TIMES. I EVEN BOUGHT A NEW MODEM WHICH HAS A LUCENT CHIPSET AND ACTIONTEC BOARD. I DO NOT KNOW IS MODEM THE REAL CULPRIT. WIN 2000 COULD NOT EVEN LOCATE DRIVER FOR IT. I HAVE 200 MHZ PENTIUM, 2 GB HD, 64 MB RAM.
    WHAT ELSE COULD BE WRONG.

i think WIN2k runs on higher pentium…or AMDk6-2….or try to partition ur hard drive before installing ur WIN2k…..Actualy, WIN2k is on its’ trial stage…the software might not function well as of this time….it is still on it’s development andtrial stage…u may try win 98 instead or WIN NT for the mean time

I would replace the memory and try again! The next option would be the drive or controller. In the end you should have 128 meg of RAM unless you’re racin’ snails!

Try to alocated virtual memory about 150MB-300MB, if it doesn’t work try to replace your harddrive with the bigger one.
