Win 2000 multiple ECP parallel ports

By northwood ·
Does anyone know if Windows 2000 supports multiple ECP parallel ports such as LPT2 and LPT3?

Also, does ME support ECP parallel?

Win 2000 multiple ECP parallel ports

Hi
To answer your question both w2k pro amd win/me support mutiple printer ports.
in win2kpro chapter 17 states:

Several special file names are reserved by the system and cannot be used for files or folders:
CON, AUX, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, PRN, NUL

and in chapter 27 it states:

If the MS-DOS-based application can be configured for printing, choose LPT1 or LPT2 rather than parallel port. Most of the applications use Int17 to print when configured for LPT. If you select parallel port mode, these applications print directly to printer ports. Parallel mode is significantly slower in Windows 2000 compared to Windows 3.x.

hope that helps
JO
