I have 1 Win2000 Pro computer in a LAN with 5 Win98 computers. Everything worked fine till yesterday. I log as Administrator. Now when I start win2000pro machine it recognizes all other computers and I can see them in “My network places” and ping them. Strange, because after starting the LAN connection immediately after showing desktop I get a red-cross mark message “NETWORK: NETWORK DRIVER APPEARS TO NOT BE SERVING THIS DIRECTORY”. But the network seems to be OK. When I try to copy files through the network to the win2000 computer it loses connection with all other computers after tranceiving a few Kbytes. Pinging them shows “Request timed out”. Restarting the Win2000 computer shows other computers till
I try to copy again some files – connection goes do down again. I tried other UTP cable – no effect, installed SP2 – no effect.
All computers are with static IP, equipped with equal LAN cards D-Link DFE-530TX in half-duplex 100Mb. Win98 computers have no troubles communicating each other, the only trouble is losing connection with the win2000 computer.
What should I do? Can you help me?
