Win 2000, Western Digital conflict?

Has anyone had problems installing Windows 2000 Professional or Advanced Server on a western Digital 30GB drive? The problems are hard to pinpoint because of changing characteristics at each try. Western Digital says there is no problem. A messageboard on their site has messages from many people indicating the opposite.
