Hello guys/guyettes.
I just inherited a rickety dev box that runs on Windows 2003, and I broke it.
I had to reboot, and it put me in to an endless loop of saying the SAM has an invalid handle. Following instructions I copied over the one from ther repair folder, and was able to get back in.
Both SQL Server 2005 and Sharepoint no longer work on this box, (Service unavailable from MOSS), So I decided to try and un-install and then reinstall both products.
It appears that the user account I am using (Which I have promoted to the adminstrators group), cannot uninstall the SQL Server, it fails when trying to remove the database services. The uninstall log does not make it clear what the error is, apart from the generic fatal installer error and Transforming Table Error in the log
I can’t even run a manual uninstall. The services are running under an account named Sharepoint.Admin, not newtwork or local service.
Has any body got any ideas? cheers
