Win 2k dual boot /OS/2 boot manager

By Shane D ·
I am dual booted with NT and 2000 using os/2 boot manager and everytime I go to the 2000 side it will erase my boot manager and then give me a blue screen of nothing when I reboot. Is there a way to eliminate file checking in the boot ini file of 2000 or a fix that will get 2000 not to view the boot manager partition?

Win 2k dual boot /OS/2 boot manager

The good news is you have plenty of options:

1) stop using OS/2 boot manager:
<plug>
I use Ranish Partition Manager (because it is not biassed towards any OS)
http://www.users.intercom.com/~ranish/part/
</plug>
or use partition manager's.2) AFAIK, servicepack1 for win2k makes it behave friendlier and stops it nuking the boot sector. Mickeysoft (support.microsoft.com) might even have it available as a seperate hotfix.

3) If you can boot into OS/2, there is a patch available, contained in the "dfsee" package (a partition manager), which fiddles with the boot sector, such that win2k leaves it alone. Search for "dfsee" on http://hobbes.nmsu.edu

OS/2 Forever !
