Win 2K eDir server as Reference Time Svr

By Megtek ·
I have 4 servers in my tree. Windows 2000 has eDir 8.7.3 on it and holds the master replica. I also have 3 NetWare 4.11 SP9 servers in the tree. I want the NetWare servers to see the Win 2K server as the REFERENCE server for time. I found docs that tell me I need to configure the Windows server to go toan external time source (NTP) but I can find nothing telling me how to tell the NetWare boxes that the Windows 2000 server is the REFERENCE server. Is this possible?

Hi.

You need to get hold of timesync.nlm. It runs as a loadable module and is configurable to point to any NTP server for time updates. I don't have a NetWare 4.11 box to test with but have a look on the server as it may already have an instance of this file on the System volume. The old version of this NLM was called NTP.NLM.

See these two URLs for details:

The second link talks about Time syncing with Netware 4.x (about 3/4 of the way down the page)

Sorry I can't help you with exact instructions, as 4.x has been unsupported for a while, and I don't have access to a box running this version.

Good luck.

Regards.
Duwane
