Win 2k install

By dunc_keddie ·
Hi, can anyone point me in the right direction. What is the best way to install Win 2k server on a RAID5 array. Create the array first then proceed with the install or install Win 2k on drive 0 then create array. Setup is Adaptec 2200 RAID card with4x73gb scsi drives. Thanks Dunc.

create the array first with your hardware raid adapter configuration software. then do your install. the array will be 'transparent' to your os...

what i would do is get 2 raid card min 5 drives your system drive in one card 2 18 gb or smaller and create a mirror and create a raid 5 min 3 hard drives for your d: drives so you are redeundant on both files and systems.

but i will create the raid first before installing OS

You have to create the array first. It's the only way it'll work.

It would be better to install win2K on a mirrored set. and create a raid 5 array for data. This would be alot more tolerant.
