Win 2k Pro freeze during Win Repaiing

by computer_excel . Updated 23 years, 6 months ago

I have IBM Thinkpad using Win 2k Pro. It was running very slow. So I performed Chkdsk /P on the hard disk and it fixed several problem.

Then I had Win 2k Pro to repair, and in the middle of repairing it was configure the COMM+… devices it freeze. I reboot the laptop re-ran the repair again. Again it freezes at the exact same spot. I took out the hard drive and ghost it to another hard disk for backup. I cleaned out the orignial hard drive by delete partition and re-partition and reformatted hard drive. Then I installed Win 2k Pro. It went through installation with no problem. NOw I need to get the backup hard drive running so that I can transfer all important data and programs back to a cleaned hard drive.

How can I overcome the freeze part of the Win 2k Pro repairing? Keep in mind since it never complete repair it running in the loop of trying to repair Win 2k Pro. I cannot use Windows until the problem is fixed.
