Win-2K server HD problem

by jf555 . Updated 21 years, 1 month ago

I have the following situation: W2k Server w/SP3 and 2 mirrored HD w/the W2k ftdisk.sys driver. The HDs are DYNAMIC VOLUMES, the primary HD is malfunctioning although the server boots and is accesible. Question: Should the following procedure work? Take out the malfunctioning primary HD, promote the primary slave to primary master and add a new, bare-metal HD as the primary slave, then reboot. I expect the server to boot, detect the bare metal HD and and automatically start the re-mirroring process. Any comments on these steps or if I left out any critical ones, will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance
