Win 2k Server VPN w/ Router+firewall

By djel ·
Hi, i have a router with a firewall built in, I can disable it. I need to setup a VPN server over the internet behind the firewall / router, I was wondering if that is possible.
E-mail me at djel@home.com if you can help

Win 2k Server VPN w/ Router+firewall

Yes.

This is the way that we do it.

The traffic hits the firewall, and port 1723 and 47 is allowed to pass through to the VPN box, which in our case is a Windows 2000 Server.

The PPTP/VPN box does "filtering" that only allows traffic from certain hosts to certain other hosts -- however you want to do it, and passed that on as a static route to another network card which is actually on the "internal" network.

If you need more details I can certainly provide them, but the above shouldgive you a start?

Thanks

whether you can disable the built-in router/firewall depends on the model and manufacturer of this router.
