WIN 95 CLIENT KEEPS LOSING DRIVE MAPS

    Locked

    by mozster ·

I have a Win 95 PC that logs in via the standard client into a Windows NT 4 domain.

It then runs a login script from the server and maps its drives to various shares on servers.

Sometimes if the machine is left for a while and not being used then the mappings totally disappear from within windows applications and explorer and the usersneeds to logout and back in again to re-run the script and thus re-map the drives!!

    Any ideas?

Turn off hibernation / sleep modes from the computer BIOS.

Check your network adapter in this computer for the same. Most newer nics have a standby or sleep or idle /inactive time…disable it.

The first answer is correct but try a another nic card the one on that computer could be bad. Also does that computer stay on the network? Is there other people who use it, if so do they log into it? If they do are they reloging or just hitting cancel?

I agree – turn off the power management items in display properties and also make sure they don’t use the “Sleep” key on the keyboard if there is one…
