Win 95 Scandisk

When I run scandisk it goes throgh scan then at the end of the scan I get a blue screen of death that says..

SCANDSKW Caused a general protection fault in module DSKMAINT.DLL at 0008:00002141

I have reinstalled recovery disk and still get same problem

My system is HP pavilion
any ideas out there
