Commands? You need to set the BIOS to boot from the floppy drive. Try holding F10 to get into the BIOS. I think this is the correct key for the Armada.

Correct! F10 does access the BIOS. I've got that. I do not know the DOS language enough to load Windows from the floppy.

Yes, correct! F10 is the key for accessing the BIOS. I need to know how to use the Win95 floppy to install Windows. When I boot with the diskette, naturally, I get the 'A' prompt. Where to go from here?

The easiest thing to do is boot from a Win98 startup disk, copy over the Win95 CD to the hard drive, and perform the install locally.

If you don't have a Win98 startup disk, you'll have to find the appropiate drivers for your CD-ROM.

A few days ago I booted with Win 98 CD and was able to acces the CD-ROM drive. But since then I have lost access to the CD-ROM drive and cannot remember what I did before. We also downloaded a couple drivers from online (one from COMPAQ) but neither worked. This is definitely a step in the right direction, though.

This is definitely in the right direction. A few days ago I was able to access the CD-ROM drive from booting with Win98 CD. But since then I have lost access to the CD-ROM drive and cannot remmeber what I did before to have that.

lot's of tips but it depends of your knowledge of DOS
first of all. Your DOS boot disk does it have CD-Rom support? if yes all you have to do is "fdisk" the drive to put a partition, format it and copy your CAB files.
if it doesn't, you will have to find the right SYS file and modifie the Config.sys and Autoexec.bat files accordingly
eg:
Config.sys
device=a:\driver.sys /d:mscd000
Autoexec.bat
mscdex /d:mscd000
this will give you cdrom support from the floppy.
there are generic cdrom drivers eg:aspicd.sys that you can find on the net.
for other question email me at simpsin@hotmail.com

I am not proficient with DOS. I did try some of the coding you provided but with no avail. I would need a good guide to take this route.

Okay...if you want to boot and run the 95 setup then put the setup floppy in the A drive and the CD in the cdrom unit. Boot to the A:> prompt and type SETUP.

To install 98 set the BIOS to boot from CDROM and then boot with ONLY the 98 CDROM inthe CD unit. When prompted select "run windows 98 setup from CD" and press <enter>

The rest should be handled by windows with only a little interaction from you to select certain customizations. Feel free to email me if you have problems with it.
