Win 98 CDRW/ sound problem after replace

    Locked

    by cruzbar ·

I replaced a CD-Rom with a CDRW in a Win 98 system and also replaced the sound card with Sound Blaster Audigy and now both CDRW are recognized by the system and read disks, but I am not able to get the sound to work. I also disabled the onboard sound card on an Intel SE440BX-2 Motherboard in the Bios as suggested by the Intel website. and I removed the software for the onboard sound card. Any help would be greatly appreciated

how does the new sound card look in Device Manager? If it looks good in Device Manager, check this stuff:
      1) sound cable hooked to new CDRW (so you can play music CD’s)
      2) volume not muted or off
      3) do headphones work?
      4) is analog/digital speaker setting correct?

is the small 2 core cable between CDRW and sound card connected? small but not insignificant!
