Win 98 Confused by my modem and printer

By logi9992000 ·
My parents old computer has Win98 (TinyPC from 3 year ago+). The USB printer(X75 Lexmark) no longer works and the modem (PCTel D-1156IV/P2A), after a Win98 reinstall, isn't being recognized. I got rid of IRQ conflicts (I think) and I downloaded the modem drivers but still nothing. The printer won't print, it just quit after working for several weeks. Help?!

I have yet to install Windows 98 and not need to install the drivers for the chip-set on the motherboard.

You need the PCI bridge and USB hub drivers for the motherboard.

I assume that the chip-set on this motherboard is not covered by a heatsink.

You should be able to just look at the 2 large black ICs on the motherboard to determine who made the chip-set and what model it is.

Then, use the links at to locate the manufactures web site.

An alternative to opening the case my be to run a system information utility such as Belarc Advisor.
