Win 98 recycle bin error 1026

By hrreyn ·
I have items in my W98 recycle bin that I cannot delete or restore. Newly deleted items can be deleted. The items that have been in the bin for quite a while are what I am receiveing the error 1026 trying to delete/restore.

I have installed asecond HD and created the C: image on it. I not sure if this it causing the problem or not.

I also have used a registry clean-up program, but was having the problem before cleaning registry.

The C: drive has 8.55 GB used of 12.6 GB.

Any thoughts?

Try turning off the recycling for that drive which is giving you problems, reboot and turn it back on. Now granted everything in there is now lost but you should be able to test if it's ok now. Good Luck

Have you tried to delete those files in Safe Mode?

My desktop recylce bin icon was for the C:. When I opened the recycle bin and selected empty recycle bin, both recycle bins were empied! After that mistake, I right clicked on the desktop recycle bin icon and selected the global setting configure drives independently. Everything work fine now. Thanks for your suggestions.
