I'm not sure excatly where the favorites folder is located in win 98, I think is was under c:\windows\profile. Just copy or zip the whole folder to your back-up storage.

For E-Mail, if your using outlook, search for *.pst and *.pab file and copythem to your back-up. These files contains your contacts and emails

Your favorites folder is in one of two places. If you are using profiles it is in C:\WINDOWS\PROFILES\%USERID%\FAVORITES. If you are not using profiles it is in c:\WINDOWS\FAVORITES.

Substitute %USERID% with your login id. Just copy the whole favorites folder.

Simply done. Open Windows Explorer. Expand the Windows directory. Select the Favorites folder. Click copy. Then navigate to where you want to save them and click paste. This will copy the entire Favorites folder to that location. If, well when, you have to reinstall Windows, just select the Favorites folder you saved and copy and paste it to the Windows directory. Done.
As already stated, if you are on a machine with multiple user profiles, you will have to navigate to you profile entry and do the save operation with that Favorites folder.
Email is a different story. If you are using Outlook Express or like email program, when you are viewing an email just click the File menu and select Save As. There you can navigate where you want to save it and name it whatever you like. Hope this helps.
