I have 9 brand new dell machines with windows me on it. I then installed a nic card. Then proceeded to go to the network poperties and added tcp/ip and client for microsoft. I then went to the logon selection box and chose client for microsoft network. When i reboot i don’t get a client for microsoft logon prompt but instead i get the windows logon box. So then to check out the ethernet card i tried to ping the file server and i got a a reponse. Then i went to ipconfig and it got the infofrom the dhcp server. So i know the card works. But for the heck of it i threw in two other nic cards and on diffrent pci slots. Every card did the same thing(no logon prompt) I went to the registry to see if the autologon key was present and it wasn’t there so that wasn’t the problem. PLease keep in mind that i have networked probably a thousand 95 98, 98 se, and 2000 machines. The only protocol im running is tcp/ip. Keep in mind every machine does the same thing.
