Win Media Player 9.0

By wayneinreno ·
I cannot ge the player to stop "not pesponding". I click on the Media Library, open it up, click on a somg and about 10 seconds later it freezes up, and at the top in the blue bar it says "not responding", I then close it out, and the report error comes up, reports the error, and thats it. I then went through these steps at least ten times and it keeps giving me the no response. Could there be a script error of some kind? Or a file error? I cannot figure this out. I also wanted to uninstall, and reinstall but that is not possible, is it??

In the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, you should see an entry for Windows Media Player 9.0 and you can uninstall it. However, check the Windows Update site as there is an update for version 9.0 to 9.0a That might solve some of the freezing problem you have. You don't mention any of your hardware specs or internet connection specs which can affect the ability to play streaming media or download type media from the internet. Not all programs you try to access via the Windows library use buffering for playback.

Edit your sysoc.inf file and remove all instances of the word hide. Reboot your machine and now in Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components, you should now have the option to uninstall Windows Media Player.

The sysoc.inf file is in c:\windows\inf directory. Use notepad to open this file, and then follow the instructions included in the 2nd answer/reply.

Hope this helps.

When you get the error message, click the details button. Write down the first two lines and post for me.
