Win NT 4.0 SP5 Logon Scripts

By rjander ·
We created a logon script that runs fine on 95 & 98 but not NTWS 4. It will work sometime but not regular.

That's possible. 95 and 98 don't have issues like permissions. What is your script attempting to do? Make sure that whoever the user is who is having problems has sufficient permissions for the script to run under that account. To test, try running the script as an admin.

It will not run for the admin.

Hmm...what is the script attempting to do? Without knowing more I can only speculate....perhaps drives need to be mapped...perhaps something is not installed...could be any number of things.

This problem could use more definition. Is the entire logon script failing or is a particular entry failing? Is it safe to assume that you have created a machine account for each nt wkstn? As another tech mentioned, beware of the nt permissions issue.Using a regular nt account (not administrator)assign local administrator privs to the nt account)Then logon, and using
a dos command window, execute the logon script found in each domain controllers netlogon directory .If you can get a consistant failure, let us know what the error is. If not, consider replication. If you are using 95 policies, beware though.
