can i reload my windows xp ontop of my old one to correct errors ? if so, how? thanks...

I would recommend you try to do a system restore first. Go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. Take a look at all the available restore points, and use the more recent one, working your way backwards.

If that still doesn't help, you can reinstall Win XP and overwrite your system folder, but you will need to reinstall all programs and drivers again.

I would recommend if you're going to reinstall, format the drive first, then reinstall.

Try a system restore.

I do not recommend reinstalling on top of the old Windows XP version -- I've tried it and it causes multiple other problems both with WinXP and with applications.

If a system restore does not work successfully, then boot from the WinXP cd and run it's setup.... but have it format before reinstalling the OS. You'll need to re-install applications anyway. Just backup all data files before formatting.
