Win XP and AMD 1.4

I’m having trouble when I try to install Win XP on my AMD 1.4 it starts the setup and then gets to the part where it says at the bottom of the blue screen ‘Starting Windows XP’ and freezes. I’ve tried this on two diffrent machines both running AMD1.4 with two diffrent mainboards. Any help?
