Win XP can't join domain over WAN

By orcsattheg8 ·
I'm trying to join a Windows XP machine to a W2K domain over a frame WAN. The machine is setup with a static IP. When the client attempts to join the domain he recieves a message that the network path can not be found. I can ping him across the wan and he can ping the DNS server [ip and DNS name]. There is a helper IP in the router.

Network drives?

by Chuckyg In reply to Win XP can't join domain ...

Is the error from mapping a network drive? What is the configuration of the XP computer, what drives does it have? Do you have admin rights on the domain to see if that XP device has been added? Try the remove/add process on the XP device to the domain. Does the user have rights to add a computer to the domain?
