win xp home sp2 reboot problem

By 1spiker1 ·
Since downloading SP2 and I boot up my computer, it cycles in a reboot mode without showing anything on my monitor. I have upgraded my BIOS, but I still have the problem and I have unchecked "Automatically Restart" in the Startup and Recovery window. My computer has the following hardware: Award Modular Bios (socket), Asus CUV4x-D, dual PIII 866MHz Intel Processors,1GB RAM, 120GB Western Digital. I run 4 monitors with the following: Pandex GF2 MX400 64MB AGP, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 200, ATI XPERT 128 video cards. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

You may want to try uninstalling, then reinstalling SP2.

Good luck

Can you boot the system into safe mode? If so, go into safe mode and change your video settings to the minimum. My experience would point to a problem with the video drivers. Also, I believe you may need to disable the mulitple monitors and then re-enable the setup.

Try this.
If you have trouble with sp2 after installing boot to the safe mode and go to the boot.ini file in C: drive, Open properties and uncheck the read only box. Then open the file with notepad. Look for
/noexecute=optin. Change it to /noexecute=AlwaysOff.
This has worked for me as drwtsn.exe file has stopped the loading at the desktop
