My Dell laptop using Win XP no longer recognizes my removable DVD drive. It may have been the result of using a win XP “optimizer” program which liklely changed or possibly deleted some settings on my computer. Dell replaced the DVD drive, which had no effect. The drive does not show in “My Computer”, but it does seem to be recognized in the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon on the task bar. Any suggestions? I am most appreciative for any help.
