Win XP password problem after hibernate

Whenever I try to turn my computer on after I hibernate, I am unable to type numbers in for my password. The numeric keypad does not work even though Num Lock is on. It acts as if the Num Lock is off. Also, the characters that I type in for my password are in the wrong case. For example, if the Caps Lock is off, and my password is “sample”, I have to type it in as “SAMPLE” for Windows to let me logon. Can someone please help me with this? I would appreciate it very much.
