Win XP pro on a linux network

By jbradley ·
My office just got a new computer, win xp pro. The network is a Linux network. I cannot map the shared drive that we all map to. In our case the location is \\mail\public and we use J: as the drive. I can ping all the IP's, I can go to the internet using the shared internet connection. What am I missing? Any ideas?

I am assuming that by saying 'your Linux network' that you have Samba running, which serves out file shares etc.
Have you added your machine to the 'domain'? Do you have login rights to the domain?

What is the error message you are getting?

Chris
