Win XP Pro won't boot

By dlagos ·
We have a workstation that crashes upon booting every 3-4 months. This is time #3. The past 2 times have resulted in complete format and re-install of Win XP. The last time I replaced the HD. When I attempt to boot in safe mode, it lists the drivers, and stops responding there. Also, after the disk check completes, it just restarts and goes through the same. Any suggestions?
TIA

Take the machine off the network, run anti-virus to make sure a virus is not present.
Now troubleshoot the hardware starting with the video card, make sure it has updated drivers, then the NIC card which may be causing a problem.
The nest thing to check for would be that system is getting enough power, does the POwer supply work properly?check all fans to power supply and cpu

Make absolutely certain that you have WinXP drivers for all your devices on this computer. Sounds like the computer was not built for XP and one or more of the drivers may be getting corrupted over time/use.

You've run a chkdsk? Can you runa chkdsk /r and see if you can boot normally thereafter?
