I have a home network set up with Win XP Pro as server and two Win 98 PC’s as clients. Network is set up using static IP addresses. Dial-up connection on XP has firewall enabled as well as internet connection sharing enabled. Everything works when first set up, but then after redialing internet connection, Win XP resets its own IP address, overriding the manually set IP address, and client PC’s no longer connect to the network. Why does Win XP reset the manually set static IP address?
