Win xp startup programs

By TABComputers2002 ·
I have a notebook that runs XP. Currently it takes almost 5 minutes to startup. I've looked under MSConfig, but I can't really tell what half the stuff there is. Is there a website or document that would tell me what everything is?

Specs: P4 2.0, 20g HD (3400 RPM), 128M ram.

Thanks in advance.
Tim

For starters, I would go into the registry; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\____(see what is starting). Delete unnecessary strings.

Then I would proceed to services (click run the type 'services.msc' and disable unnecessary services.

Here is a link to help on the services http://www.blackviper.com/

Hope this will be helpful.

Not exactly what I need. I really want to find out what the programs that start during boot actually do and what software package the go to.
