Win xp usb software support for hp printer

by bdswagger . Updated 17 years, 10 months ago

Hi

My appologies for posting here, as I’m not an IT person. I’m a freelance visual artist who uses my computer in my business. I’ve posted at microsoft and HP about this and hopfully between the 3 sites, I’ll find some answers.

I very recently did a complete re-install on my computer, due to virus problems. My printer-hp psc 1410v 3 in 1-worked just fine before the re-install. Now, when I try to install the printer software, I get a window saying “This computer does not have the necessary USB software support to allow completion of a USB installation.” Under Requiements, it says “USB Drivers”. I’m running Windows XP, and did a complete update, have all the Service Packs EXCEPT for Service Pack 1. Which doesn’t seem to be available anymore on the microsoft website.

I know about USB v2.0, but this is an old computer, and I have no idea if the card will support the newer version or not. Everything else-mouse, keyboard-is working just fine.

I use my printer ALOT in my business, and badly need to get this thing running quickly. So, in plain English, babysteps, can anyone help me out? Please?

Thanks
Leigh Perry
