Can you precisely tell what error does the system display when it crahses?
If after crash there is a (famous) blue screen of death, then it also displays an error message at top of the screen in the form of THIS_IS_AN_ERROR_MESSAGE alongwith a unique number in hexadecimal form.
Goto and enter the error message or the error number in the search box, a relevant workaround should be there.

There could be several other possibilites, like your registry or any particular registry hive might have gone corrupted. But you first need to identify the exact error message.

If a currupt registry is to blame you 'could' replace the registry files (e.g. 'system' in c:\winnt\system32\config) with the repair copies (C:\winnt\repair).

Use the Recovery Console by booting to the Win2K Pro boot CDRom or floppies.

Careful! The repair copies may be very old and not a true reflection of your current system. Repair copies are updated when you create emergency repair disks.
