win2000 administrator password

One of my clients has forgotten the password for their win2000 system for the administrator logon. is there anyway that this can be sidetracked etc.???

Actually, no. The only thing that can be done is, logging in with the eadmin account (supposing it is still active and with all rights), and change the administrator password. If not... sorry to say that but... they just have to reinstall the W2k onthat machine (with all that implicates it... AD, etc, etc.)

There are free utilities on the internet that will allow you to change the administrator password. I have one available if you would like to email me directly.

If this is a machine in a domain rather than a standalone, you can change the local admin password by going to Computer Management in the Administrative Tools Contol panel Applet and change to the local machines domain and change their Local MachineAdministrator password from there, If you are a Domain Admin.

You did not mention if this is Win 2000 Professional or Server. The best way is to
contact the domain Administrator, have them log in and change your password, if you are in a domain and not a workgroup (Peer to Peer) If you are in a workgroup (you wont have a domain admin) and you will have to try one of the utilities mentioned. If they dont work, you will probably have to back up
important files, reformat your disk, and reload your operating system.
