WIN2000 Desktop Settings

By gbalonek ·
Is there anyway on a WIN2000 Client Workstation to have the same Desktop, Start Menu, etc. for two different users?

WIN2000 Desktop Settings

It is very possible. There are a number of ways to accomplish this also. A lot of it depends on whether you are running a 2000 Domain or not. If you are you can do A LOT with group policy. You can then assign that policy to whatever OU you want and just ad the users you want it to apply to in that OU. If not on a 2000 domain, you can configure a "dummy" account with the settings that you want, and then copy the profile to whoever else you want to. To do this Right Click on My Computer, go to User Profiles and highlight the Dummy account. Now click on Copy To and in the Copy Profile To box type C:\Documents and Settings\Username and presto!

If this were a windows nt 4 machine i would recommend using manditory profiles. However, since it is windows 2k use group policies. You will need to add the group policies sanp-in to an mmc console.
