This issue came up after installing Windows 2000 which has the latest Netware client installed.
I wanted a group of users to load fixed mandatory profile from a server folder. So I created a WinNT-Win2000 user policy package and associated that group of users with it. In the user policy package, an NT policy file (on the server) is specified under “NT user system policies” > Usern Policy File.
Under NT Desktop Preferences > Roaming Profile, I entered the UNC path to the raoming profile folder. This paradiagm worked beutifully with Windows NT 4.0. However, when users login to Win2000, it takes 7-10 minutes to complete the login. The authentication is fast, but the delay happens while loading the policy/roaming profile.
The delay is defintely not due to slow network nor Netware server. The local workstation appears to be busy doing something.
Any ideas folks?
Then problem does not appear to happen with roaming profile users; only with users using mandatory (ntuser.man) pofile.
Thanks,
