    Hi,

I am trying to boot my win2000 prof pc from boot disk and it will not work. I get this message, Disk I/O Error and that’s it! once I unplugged the cdrom drive and it came up but then I got a different error message(didn’t write it down) and then it never came up again. Any ideas? also it will not boot from the cdrom either!

Did you go into the BIOS and check the Boot Order to see in what order (floppy, CDROM, hard drive) the machine will boot from? You can flop the order around also.
AS for the I/O error, sounds like a bad floppy. Floppys go bad all the time, even right after you used it. I HATE floppys and try to never use them.

Yes, that was the first thing I did. I set it to floppy, cdrom, hard drive. but then I went back and set it to cdrom, cdrom, hard drive and it booted from the cd! then I had to go home so well see today…

You should make some new boot floppies. This has happened to me in the past, and it turned out that the floppy had just gone bad (“When floppies go bad, tonight on FOX!”)

If the floppy’s okay, then it’s probably the drive. Have you tried a known-working floppy drive in that system? Also, you can boot directly to the W2K CD on most systems (it takes you to the same place that the 4 floppies do, but much quicker).

Thank you for your help. It finally booted up from the cdrom. I don’t know if it is because I set the boot order to cdrom, cdrom, hard drive but it worked.
