Win2000 + floppy drive?

By Rumpole ·
Will Win2000 recognize a 5.25 floppy drive? I've been trying to install one in a desktop but all it sees is the 3.5 drive. It occurs to me that I'm trying to install hardware that Win2000 has no idea exists.

Any feedback is appreciated.

BIOS Settings

Make sure that the BIOS is set for a 5 1/4" drive and not a 3 1/2"

The BIOS settings are often by the maximum disc capacity and not the physical drive size.

5 1/4: Low 360K High 1.2MB

3 1/2: Low 720K High 1.44MB

If you have selected the correct drive settings in BIOS, then you might need the manufactures specific drivers for the chip-set on the motherboard.
