Win2000 Pro dial-up problems….

by mountjohnny . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

Hello there,
I have a user who is trying to access our domain from home (laptop running Win2000pro connecting to an NT4.0 domain). I have simulated this problem and here’s what happens:

1) At the 2000Pro logon, I check off the box to allow me tologon using a dial-up connection.
2) I dial with modem to a Cisco 5300 dialup device that allows me to access the network. At this point I can ping the entire network with no problem and I get an IP from our DHCP pool…all looks good at this point.
3) When I try to access any mapped drives (that are automatically mapped with a logon script), it tells me that the device name is already in use, and I therefore cannot connect.
4) I have tried to map drive with now luck and I cannot browse the network through My Network Places.

Does anyone have an idea about what I could be missing here?

THANKS,
John
