Win2000 Pro Install

By sdowning ·
Trying to install win2k Pro on a new hd. Installed win98 on fat32. Then tried to install Pro, selected upgrade, got an error that HD was corrupted and had to exit. Tried again, choose clean install, asked if I wanted fat32 or ntsf for Pro, I tried both and eventually got the message "HD was corrupted."

Appreciate ant suggestions.

Steve

are you trying to dual boot or install 98 and then upgrade to win2k? also, did you perform fdisk and format before you began? will wait to hear back and good luck, mike

The situation was a little quirky, had one partition formated as FAT32 for the entire HD (20GB). Partition Magic would not do anything, Started to install WIN98 again, which reformats HD, after formating excited out of install and ran FDisk. Setup three partitions of 2gb each, then installed 98 and server.

Thanks

Make sure the virus scan is disable in the BIOS. or try performing a low level format of the HD first.
