I have a compaq proliant server with 2 NIC’s, the server is installed with windows 2000 and one of the NIC is used for our internal network and the other is used as our SMTP proxy, we are using MS-Proxy server for this, the server runs 24×7, but everyweek i.e as of now every friday when I come in the morn the server is hung, the mouse is active but when I point it to the task bar it becomes a bidirectional arrow and I cant click on the start button also the keyboard is locked and I cant even press ctrl+alt+del key to get to the task manager, from another computer when I browse the n/w and click on this computer it fails, all I can do is reset the server, I know this is not the solution, after I restart the server the event log shows a event ID of 6008, which states that there was an improper shutdown sometime early in the morning at 1:30AM. when nobody is using the network. This server also is installed with TrendProtect antivirus s/w
could anybody give me a answer of this weird behaviour of my server which hangs every week
