Win2000 Server in Peer to Peer Wkgp

By lylea42 ·
I have recently installed Win2000 Server and am trying to get the wkstn to recognize the other win98 and nt4 machine in the wkgrp. The message i get is that the machine has successfully joined the workgroup and the machines show up in network neighborhood but when I try to access one of them I get the message the network is not accessible. I have tried everything I can possibly think of. Even entering a static ip. when I join the server to another domain everything works fine and I can loginto the machines on the other domain but no success with the peer to peer wkgrp. the browser service is turned on on the server and I have also tried turning it off but it did not work. I have used TCPIP, IPX/XPS, and NETBeui but everything has failed to this point.

Win2000 Server in Peer to Peer Wkgp

I would make sure that you have a username/password set up on your win98 +nt4 machines that match that of your logon username/password on your 2000 server.

also i suggest using only (tcp/ip) as protocols used.

can you access file shares on 2000 server from either win98 or nt4 machines?
