Win2000 Services Problem

Lately, starting up Windows 2000 has taken a long time. After it is finally done, the computer seems to have a VERY slow reaction time. Opening the Task Manager, I find that “services.exe” is taking up 99 percent of my CPU. I am wondering how I can fix this problem.
