Win2K Adv Server Command prompt crashes

By scgurl ·
Suddenly cannot run a command prompt from Windows 2000 Advanced Server console. All Windows apps seem to run fine and all clients can log in and run Windows apps. Windows 98/2k/xp clients can run dos apps from server.

Try the following MS KB article

"You cannot start a program by running a shortcut at a command prompt in Windows 2000"

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;327324

Thanks but that's not the problem. When I try to run a dos program or command prompt I get a blue screen and usually a STOP error. BTW,Everything is fine in safe mode.

Anything in Event Viewer? From Run, are you typing "cmd" or "command"?

Nothing in event viewer - doesn't matter which - cmd or command.

Replace autoexec.nt and config.nt in system32 folder with copies in c:\windows\repair.

Thanks, but it didn't help. I have however, solved the problem of cmd.exe crashing. Now just command.com crashes.

What is the STOP error you are getting?

It's a STOP: 0x00000050 - Page fault in non-paged area

What was the solution to cmd.exe crashing? I'm would guess that they're probably related...
