Win2k corrupt

by computab . Updated 19 years, 7 months ago

The error message was: Windows 2000 cannot start because the following file is missing or corrupt: winnt\system32\config\system. I have seen a solution to this for WinXP on Microsoft’s site, but could not find it for Win2k, the solution is to replace the registry hives with the backup. Is this possible for Win2k? The system is Athlon XP1700, 512MB RAM, 40GB drive. Help please?
