Win2k crashing !!

By edmond_sng ·
Hi,

I was burning a CD using EasyCD creator and as I was trying to eject the CD aftter it has finished Win2k pro crashed violently. Win2k is not known to have crashed that easily. Could this be the CPU overclocking or the user profile that logson or other issues within win2k itself?

If it is the corrupted user desktop or other issues with Win2k Pro, please suggest on how I can go about fixing it.

Please advise. Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Win2000 is so far the most stable of all Win OSes. There are a lot of issues when it comes to crashes. CPU, overused, conflict bet programs and OS, OS itself, etc. But you did not tell if you always crash violently whenever you finished writing. First thing to do is try to write again and see if it crashes after, if it did, then reinstall Win2000, then write again. If it crashes again, try to write on other sofware like Nero 5.5, if it crashes again, then you need to call a technician and don'ttry anything crazy, you might damage your unit totally.

It would only be overclocking if you are overclocking the cpu via bios or jumpers. More likely it is a problem with EasyCD creator, check for updates from Roxio. Also, when was the last time you defrag'd your hard drive. A fragmented hard drive is a likely cause of a burining issues. More specifically, what was on the blue screen? The information there is the key to your answer and not likey to be answered correctly without that.

I'd be quicker to point my finger at Roxio than W2K. Did it only happen once or again and again? I hear really bad stuff about easyCD creator. That kind of usage can't over clock the CPU. If it just happened once, reboot and move on. If it continuesto happen, uninstall the burning software and get Nero or something else. If that doesn't help save all your data and fdisk your hard drive and reinstall windows. Good Luck
