Win2k DHCP server assigns wrong subnet

By GunnerSixz ·
Our win2k DHCP server currently has subnet of 255.255.255.0 but when I go to a windows 2k client and release and renew the IP, I get a subnet of 255.255.0.0 I believe that I have a wrong setting somewhere on the DHCP scope but I don't know where tolook. The reason for this questions is that I have some systems that cannot be seen on the network neighborhood since they are on a different subnet. I can resolve the computer names and ip addresses but they just dont' show up on the neighborhood.I checked the systems and sure enought they were showing a subnet of 255.255.0.0 (they got this from the DHCP server). ANy input would be greatly appreciated.

Win2k DHCP server assigns wrong subnet

Using the DHCP tool, right-click on the Scope root, and choose options. This will show the Subnet mask that was chosen at the time the scope was created.

Unfortunately, the only way to change this if it is wrong is to recreate the scope. The subnet mask can not be changed once the scope is created.

Hope this helps.

Right on the money, I guess I will try to create a new scope.

Thanks!
