I have recently installed Windows 2000 on both my work and home PC’s. I set up my home machine to dial in to our network using Dial-up networking. Once connected I was able to add my workstation to the domain at work. However, when I now try to logon to the domain using the dial-up connection I am getting the error, “Cannot logon because the netlogon service is not running on the system”. I then logged onto the PC locally and found that the netlogon service is indeed started. If I dial-in at this point I can map to some network resources but my administrative access is limited. I don’t think I am getting certified by the domain.
I am using an LMHOSTS file to identify our domain and servers. This PC also has a modem cable connectionfor my internet. Does anyone have an answer to this?
