Win2k dial-up networking

Using networked Win2k dial-up networking to connect to a stand alone Win98 that has dialup server running. I always get a message “Your credentials have faile remote network authentication. Enter a user name and password with access to the remote network domain. The remote is not part of the domain. I can log on from a Win98 without fail. I have Allow unsecured password checked on the Security tab in properties for the dial up on my Win2k laptop. Any suggestions? Thanks.
